This design idea is the most "quirky" of the three, and so could be the most effective for a student magazine because it is the most eye-catching and the magazine will need to be as it is for teenagers and students. However, when the cover has actually been made into this design idea, it may look a little messy and busy, putting people off reading it. This one also has the price on the cover, which is helpful for customers.
A really good start to your blog Hannah - well done :) I think I prefer design two of your layouts but I think having the masthead vertical on the page might cause you some problems when you come to designing. Don't forget to do a weekly review
